6:30 – 7:30pm:  Title:  Invasive Plants and Their Impact on Local Ecosystems                           

Description:  We hear a lot about invasive plants but what is the actual impact on our local ecosystems? Invasive plants may seem to behave on one property, while quietly invading nearby natural systems, out competing native vegetation needed for wildlife. This presentation will cover invasive plants identified in the proposed New Jersey legislation, how they spread, impacts on local habitat and their management/ control. New, emerging invasive plants will also be covered so, we can all do our part to reduce the impact of future invasive plants.                           

Speaker:  Michele Bakacs is a County Agent for Rutgers Cooperative Extension of Middlesex and Union Counties.      

Speaker Bio:  Michele has more than 22 years of experience in natural resource management and conducts research, education, and provides technical assistance in the areas of invasive species control and native plants, environmentally friendly land care, and water quality protection.
