7:15 – 8:15pm: Title:  Invasive Plants and Their Impact on Local Ecosystems

Description:  We hear a lot about invasive plants but what is the actual

Impact on our local ecosystems? Invasive plants may seem to behave

on one property, while quietly invading nearby natural systems, out

competing native vegetation needed for wildlife. This presentation will

cover invasive plants identified in the New Jersey Invasive Species

Management Act, how they spread, impacts on local habitat & their

management/control. New, emerging invasive plants will also be

covered so, we can all do our part to reduce the impact of future

                          invasive plants.

Speaker:  Michele Bakacs is a County Agent for Rutgers Cooperative

Extension of Middlesex and Union Counties.

Speakers Bio:  Michele attended Rutgers University with a Master,

Ecology 2000-2003 and Queens College 1994-1999. She has more

than 24 years of experience in natural resource management and

conducts research, education, and provides technical assistance in the

areas of invasive species control and native plants, environmentally

friendly land care, and water quality protection.

8:15 – 8:30pm:  Wrap up and Signing of Rosters for Credits
