DINNER -- PEST CREDITS, PLANET AND CNLP CEU'S
Nursery Growers Meeting at Cumberland Nurseries June 19, 2014 Afternoon Session Begining at 2pm: Labor and Immigration Concerns Presented by AmericanHort!
New Jersey nursery, greenhouse, landscape, and garden retail businesses are facing a "perfect storm” of aggressive worksite audits and enforcement by both the Department of Labor and Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
Employers trying to ensure a legal workforce by using the H-2A and H-2B visa programs are being especially hard-hit by both audits and other bureaucratic hostility. To help our employers cope, NJNLA and AmericanHort are partnering to offer a special two-session compliance "boot camp” at the upcoming June 19 field day at Cumberland Nursery.
Part 1 will focus on H-2A and H-2B-specific concerns and tips. Part 2 will focus on general Wage and Hour "gotchas” and compliance tips for all types of horticultural businesses.
The sessions will be taught by Wendel Hall, a senior associate in CJ-Lake, LLC, a Washington DC-based law and lobbying firm which serves as AmericanHort’s employment law counsel. Wendel has helped to defend many employers who have been hit by audits and H-2A denials. Craig Regelbrugge, AmericanHort’s senior vice president for industry advocacy and research, will moderate. This is your chance to make sure you are prepared!
